Exploring Regensburg

Regensburg is a Bavarian gem strung out along the Danube with a captivating medieval ambiance. Its historic heart invites slow wandering and discovery:

  • Spitalgarten Biergarten was our lunch spot by the river — the food was incredible as well as the beer. We had amazing cheese spätzle and schnitzel out in the outdoor garden looking out to the river and the stone bridge.

  • The Stone Bridge (Steinerne Brücke) is a stunning medieval landmark. It leads you across the Danube into the old town side, where St. Peter’s Cathedral stands with its large Gothic spires.

  • The town’s vibes really won us over: pastel‑colored buildings, cobblestone streets lined with bikes, and cute little shops nestled into the centuries‑old buildings made for an unforgettable stroll.

Regensburg was a perfect blend of breathtaking architecture, delightful food, and casual Bavarian charm. The convenient train ride from Munich made the idea of a hassle-free day trip a reality — fast, frequent, affordable. If you’re in Munich and looking for a historic escape without renting a car, this is it.
