Exploring Regensburg
Regensburg is a Bavarian gem strung out along the Danube with a captivating medieval ambiance. Its historic heart invites slow wandering and discovery:
Spitalgarten Biergarten was our lunch spot by the river — the food was incredible as well as the beer. We had amazing cheese spätzle and schnitzel out in the outdoor garden looking out to the river and the stone bridge.
The Stone Bridge (Steinerne Brücke) is a stunning medieval landmark. It leads you across the Danube into the old town side, where St. Peter’s Cathedral stands with its large Gothic spires.
The town’s vibes really won us over: pastel‑colored buildings, cobblestone streets lined with bikes, and cute little shops nestled into the centuries‑old buildings made for an unforgettable stroll.
Regensburg was a perfect blend of breathtaking architecture, delightful food, and casual Bavarian charm. The convenient train ride from Munich made the idea of a hassle-free day trip a reality — fast, frequent, affordable. If you’re in Munich and looking for a historic escape without renting a car, this is it.
